"I don't belong to any organized.political party. I'm a Democrat. - Will Rogers, American humorist ca. 1928
Some.months ago, once The Big, Beautiful Bill arrived in the U. S. Senate for it's approval, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York rose on.the Senate floor to announce that Senate Democrats would not oppose cloture ( I e. ending debate) on said bill.
At the time many opined that Schumer's strategy (Let's elevate it with that misnomer for the moment.) was puzzling and wrong. Still it was the strategy chosen by the leaders of the Democratic Party, expounded by those (alleged) wise men and steadfastly pursued by them. Hence my coinage of Democridiots.
Today, September 29, 2025, after meeting with the genocidal mass murderer and war criminal, Benjamin Netanyahu, The Orange Fuhrer will deign to meet with the Senate and House Leaders of both Parties with the express purpose of discussing the impending shut down of government services because the government's authority to spend money runs out at midnight tomorrow night.
The sticking place in negotiations is that the Democridiots, having chosen not to block the draconian cuts in The Big, Beautiful Bill back in March are now begging for a crust or two to help out the American people in the coming year. What Schumer cavalierly pissed away as spring began to thaw all but the hearts of the Republiscum Orange Fuhrer Cultists, he now entreats the same cold hearts to which he has already surrendered for some thin gruel for the least amongst us.
If the U. S. Government shuts down at 12:00:01 A. M. on October 1st that cessation will fall directly, do not pass GO; do not collect $200, into Chuck Schumer's lap. Six months ago, Schumer might have had some leverage in easing the draconian cuts to health programs that he wishes he could overturn now.
Senator Schumer should resign his leadership post at 12:00:02 A. M. on October 1st. His minority whip, Dick Durbin of Illinois, has already decided to leave the Senate at the end of the year and also was one of those deciding to give away the store last spring thus he should be out of the running to replace Schumer. I think that Brian Schatz of Hawaii may be an excellent deputy whip but he smells somewhat of the same taint as his bosses and shouldn't be minority leader just now. Next in line for minority leader should be Ron Wyden of Oregon. He has some fire in him and may well get us through the next year setting up an "all west" leadership of Wyden as leader, Patty Murray of Washington as Whip and Shatz as Deputy Whip. That would be a team not as geographically balanced as those of my youth in the House where the Speakership ping ponged from Texas to Massachusetts and back again, still any other team would improve on Schumer's leadership. Maybe he should retire from the Senate entirely and let his seat devolve to an intelligent and energetic Democrat like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. We absolutely must be done with Democridiots.
